Welcome to Hallingdal Folkehøgskule!

At Hallingdal Folkehøgskole, in the midst of the width of Hardangervidda and the mountains of Jotunheimen, you'll find unique experiences right on your doorstep. Mighty nature and superb winters packed with snow makes hiking and ski-related activities an experience of a lifetime! Take a walk for five minutes to get to the local ski resort - or take a 30 minute ride on the school bus to sample the norwegian alps and freeride heaven of Hemsedal.

Our evenings are longer than you would expect as there are loads of fun even in our very own backyard; get a taste of longboarding or check out our rails. Chill out at the campfire, go bouldering or join the jam in the music room. 

Our priorities are mainly about creating great experiences locally - in the expanded sense of the word. It is about nearby adventures in Hallingdal, but also about traveling slowly by train in both Norway and Europe, mountaineering in Lofoten, surfing at Stadt or making cheese in Røros.

The teachers at Hallingdal Folkehøgskule are highly trained and eager to get to know you! We promise you a year that will provide you with unique experiences that will literally send shivers down your spine - as well as providing you with the time and a place to get into the big and small questions of life. Our students must choose one of the following main subjects:

• Balance

• Outdoor activities in Norway

• Travel

• Park and powder

• Zookeeper

PS! We offer classes in «practical Norwegian» for foreigners as a part-time study during the first term. It is voluntary to participate and free of charge (10 hours).
